An assortment of glazed ceramic mugs comprising various forms and decorative styles. The collection includes items made from earthenware, porcelain, and stoneware. The forms are predominantly cylindrical or slightly tapered with various handle styles, including standard C-shaped and decorative metallic-effect versions. The decoration is primarily transfer-printed and covers a range of themes. One mug features a pink interior with hearts and the text Mum you re the best. Another large mug shows a wraparound rural landscape with a farmhouse. A festive-themed mug depicts Santa Claus in a reindeer-drawn sleigh. Several mugs are decorated with multi-coloured floral sprays and botanical illustrations of wildflowers. One mug features a bird illustration, possibly a robin. The lot also contains a dark green glazed mug with a gold-tone handle, a white mug with an embossed geometric pattern, and several plain or mottled stoneware mugs in neutral shades. Partial printed text on one mug in the lower left of the group includes the readable characters CARDIFF. No other maker’s marks are visible in the current arrangement.
Condition report:
The items are in used condition with signs of wear consistent with bulk storage. A small chip is visible on the rim of the grey mottled stoneware mug in the lower right foreground (photo 1). Minor surface scuffing, scratches, and some internal staining from use are present across the collection. The mugs are loosely packed in a cardboard box.
