Lot 195: An Assortment of Blue and White and Relief-Moulded Ceramic Wares
An assortment of decorative ceramic items comprising a large vase, a relief-moulded jug, a floral relief vase, and a footed bowl. The large baluster-form vase is decorated with a blue transfer-printed design featuring a bird perched on a flowering branch, with a border of stylized pointed leaves to the shoulder. A small white rectangular adhesive label is attached to the shoulder; the characters on the label are not legible. The relief-moulded earthenware jug is decorated with grape and leaf motifs in a green glaze, while the rim, handle, and interior are finished in a mottled dark brown glaze. An orange circular adhesive sticker is attached to the rim, reading 5.95. The small earthenware vase features a reticulated rim and high-relief floral decoration including roses and daisies on a textured ground with a matte finish. The footed bowl has a scalloped rim and is decorated with blue transfer-printed floral sprays and scrollwork borders. No factory marks or signatures are visible on the exterior of the pieces.
Condition report:
The large blue and white vase shows fine, overall crazing to the glaze across the body (photo 1). The floral relief vase has significant brownish staining and surface discolouration within the recesses of the relief decoration and around the base (photo 1). The relief-moulded jug and the footed bowl appear to be in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs.
