Timed sale of unsold lots
An assortment of vintage books primarily focused on World War II military history and personal memoirs. The collection includes several notable mass-market paperback editions such as Padre in Colditz: The Diary of Ellison Platt, edited by Margaret Duggan; Two Eggs on My Plate by Oluf Reed Olsen, published by Pan Books; and The Trail of the Fox by David Irving, published by Futura. The cover of the Futura edition of The Trail of the Fox features the palm tree and swastika insignia of the Afrika Korps. Another paperback title is partially visible as True Stories From The… appearing to be an aviation-themed work. The group further contains three hardcover volumes bound in red, tan, and maroon cloth respectively. Several additional paperback spines are visible within the cardboard container, indicating a larger themed lot of mid-20th-century military literature.
Condition report:
The paperbacks show typical signs of age, including significant tanning and yellowing to the page edges consistent with acidic paper stock of the period. General wear includes creasing to the covers, edge rubbing, and bumped corners. The Pan Books edition of Two Eggs on My Plate exhibits more pronounced surface wear and chipping to the extremities. The hardcover volumes are present without dust jackets and show minor shelf wear to the cloth boards. Internal pages remain legible despite the expected age-related discolouration.
