Lot 31: Vintage Kilner Square Aqua Glass Storage Jar with Ground Glass Stopper
A vintage Kilner clear glass storage jar of square form, complete with a matching ground-in glass stopper. The jar is constructed from mould-blown utilitarian glass with a pale aqua-green tint. One face features embossed lettering in relief, showing the maker name KILNER in an arc above the text EST 1842. The neck and the stopper are both ground to provide a secure fit. The jar has a flat, recessed base with no visible pontil mark.
Condition report:
The jar shows signs of age and use, including internal cloudiness and surface dust. There is minor roughness and small flea-bites typical of ground-glass interfaces on both the neck and the stopper rim. No major cracks or large chips are visible to the main body. Two adhesive labels are present: an orange circular label marked 13 on the top of the stopper and a rectangular white label marked 88 on the lower body.
