Lot 77: A Trio of Decorative Brass Items including a Footed Bowl and a Miniature Bed Warmer
This lot comprises three brass objects. The first is a circular footed bowl with a pedestal base, featuring hand-chased repoussé floral decoration and scrolling foliage against a stippled background. The second item is a miniature bed warmer, also known as a silk iron, featuring a hinged lid embossed with three Oriental characters and a turned wooden handle. The third item is a brass key-shaped tool stamped with the words MADE IN ENGLAND. All items feature a dark, aged patina.
Bowl diameter: approximately 15 – 20 cm.
Condition report:
All items exhibit signs of age-related wear and significant tarnish. The footed bowl shows visible green verdigris oxidation concentrated within the recessed areas of the chased decoration. General surface scratches, minor pitting, and small indentations are present across the metal surfaces of all three pieces. The turned wooden handle of the miniature bed warmer is intact but shows surface wear and a dry appearance.
