Lot 710: An Assortment of Glass Marbles within a Scooby-Doo Themed Lithographed Tinplate Mystery Machine Van
An assortment of glass marbles contained within a shaped lithographed tinplate vessel. The container is designed in the form of The Mystery Machine van from the Scooby-Doo animated series. The lid features a lithographed scene showing the series characters Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo. The text THE MYSTERY MACHINE is printed on the side panels. The interior holds a collection of glass marbles including cat’s eye variants in multiple colours, solid-coloured glass, clear spheres with internal swirls, and larger shooter-sized examples. The exterior of the tin bears two small white stickers marked 10 and one orange sticker with the handwritten code 7/0.
Condition report:
The tinplate container shows signs of use including rubbing and minor paint loss to the raised edges, corners, and rims. There are light surface scratches to the lithography throughout. The marbles appear to be in generally good condition with varying levels of surface wear consistent with a mixed lot.
