Lot 707: An Assortment of Mid-20th Century Costume Jewellery in a Handmade Stitched Card Trinket Box
An assortment of mid-20th-century costume jewellery presented in a handmade decorative trinket box. The box is constructed from cream-coloured card panels featuring floral decals, including a large circular bouquet on the lid, joined with purple and brown yarn in a blanket-stitch pattern. Included within the collection is a silver-tone floral brooch set with clear paste stones, presented in a green-bordered box. Also present is a gold-tone floral spray brooch set with green and clear rhinestones, a gold-tone wristwatch with a circular dial and metallic strap, and multiple strands of faux pearls, beaded necklaces, and base-metal chains. The items are constructed from various base metals and set with glass or synthetic stones. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible on the jewellery or the container.
Condition report:
The collection is in mixed condition. The card box shows age-related yellowing, surface wear, and discolouration to the yarn stitching. Several jewellery pieces are tangled. There is general surface wear to the metallic finishes and faux-pearl coatings throughout the assortment.
