A pair of twentieth-century chests of drawers in the Sheraton revival style. The drawer fronts and top surfaces are finished in highly figured burr yew veneers. Each chest is configured with four full-width drawers, each decorated with cross-banded borders and raised mouldings. The drawers are fitted with brass swan-neck handles on circular backplates, accompanied by a decorative brass escutcheon positioned to the left of each drawer front. The carcase is constructed from a stained hardwood.
Height: approximately 95cm.
Condition report:
The chests show signs of moderate domestic use consistent with age. There are visible scuffs, scratches, and minor finish losses, particularly concentrated along the edges, corners, and top surfaces. The brass hardware shows light oxidation and tarnishing. The burr yew veneers are generally well-preserved with typical fine surface checking associated with figured wood.
