Lot 621: A Victorian Style Oxblood Leather Chesterfield Captains Swivel Desk Chair
A Victorian style Captains swivel desk chair, upholstered in deep-buttoned oxblood leather. The chair features a horseshoe-shaped wrap-around backrest with a central button-tufted pad supported by a gallery of turned hardwood spindles. The borders of the leather upholstery are finished with brass-headed nailhead studs. The seat is heavily padded and deep-buttoned. The frame is constructed from mahogany-stained hardwood, mounted on a four-point splayed base with a swivel mechanism and metal casters.
Condition report:
The leather upholstery exhibits heavy wear and significant loss of pigment, particularly to the seat and top of the backrest. There are multiple missing buttons on the seat cushion, with at least six areas where buttons have been lost exposing the internal material. The wooden frame and legs show numerous scuffs, scratches, and finish losses consistent with age and use. The metal casters show signs of oxidation. The swivel mechanism is present but functionality has not been tested.
