Lot 594: A Collection of Antique Wrought Iron Carriage Springs and Architectural Scrollwork
An assortment of heavy-gauge wrought iron components, likely originating from a 19th or early 20th-century horse-drawn carriage suspension system or architectural ironwork. The lot consists of several straps hand-forged into C-scroll and S-scroll shapes, alongside straight structural bars. These bars feature traditional square-punched holes for mounting. The construction shows evidence of traditional blacksmithing techniques, including tapered ends and hand-forged junctions. No maker’s marks, stamps, or inscriptions are visible on the metal surfaces.
Curved sections: approximately 40cm to 60cm in diameter
Weight: individual components between 2kg and 10kg.
Condition report:
The items are in a weathered, as-found condition. There is significant surface oxidation, rust, and pitting across all components. Some sections appear bent or distorted from their original form. The lot is an incomplete collection of loose, unassembled fragments.
