A full tub of grease – A vintage cylindrical metal cup grease container produced for Pratt’s, a brand of the Anglo-American Oil Co. Ltd. The tinplate body features a two-tone lithographed design with a red section and a light-coloured section. The lighter portion displays the brand name PRATTS stencilled vertically in black lettering. Positioned below the stencilling is a small rectangular label with the text CUP GREASE. The red section of the body contains a circular brand logo incorporating the name PRATTS and a central shield graphic associated with the Anglo-American Oil Co. The container is constructed with a wire swing handle and a separate press-fit metal lid.
Condition report:
The tub is full of grease. The item is in as-found industrial condition with significant signs of age. There is widespread and heavy surface oxidation and corrosion across the body and lid. The lithographed finish shows substantial paint loss, fading, and staining. Structural notes include surface pitting and a visible dent to the top rim. The wire handle is present but heavily rusted. The surface shows accumulation of dirt, debris, and possible old grease residue.
