Lot 576: Two Furniture Items Comprising an Edwardian Oak Washstand and a Mahogany Cabinet Section
This lot consists of two pieces of period furniture. The first is an Edwardian oak washstand frame constructed from solid oak with visible mortise and tenon joinery. The frame features an open rectangular top and a solid intermediate shelf, supported by four square-section legs terminating in small metal castors. A small white adhesive inventory label is present on the shelf edge, though the characters are not clearly legible. The second item is a mahogany cabinet section, displaying decorative features characteristic of Georgian styling. The door panels are finished with boxwood stringing and crossbanded borders. The piece is fitted with a pair of brass drop handles on circular backplates. No maker marks or stamps are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
The oak washstand shows moderate surface wear, finish degradation, and minor scuffing consistent with age and utility. The mahogany cabinet section retains a polished finish with minor age-related marks and surface scratches. Both pieces appear structurally sound.
