Lot 562: A Victorian Mahogany Chest of Drawers
A Victorian mahogany chest of drawers featuring a traditional arrangement of two short drawers over three long, graduated drawers. The chest is constructed with rounded corners and sits upon a solid plinth base. Each drawer is fitted with two turned mahogany knobs and an inset keyhole. The primary wood is mahogany with a visible grain pattern throughout the drawer fronts. No maker’s marks are visible on the piece. A small white rectangular sticker bearing the numbers 20 20 is located on the face of the bottom left drawer.
Condition report:
The surface finish shows overall wear consistent with age and use. Multiple surface scratches and scuffs are present across the drawer fronts, including a more significant diagonal mark on the middle long drawer. The top surface exhibits staining and concentrated scratching. Minor chipping and wear are visible on the moulding at the base. The turned mahogany knobs appear intact and display a varied patina from use.
