Lot 561: Quartersawn Oak Four-Tier Sectional Barrister Bookcase
An early 20th-century quartersawn oak four-tier sectional bookcase. The unit is constructed in a modular stacking form, comprising a moulded top, four glazed filing or bookcase sections, and a plinth base. The sections feature glass doors set within oak frames, designed with a lift-and-slide mechanism to retract into the unit. The oak displays characteristic flecked grain associated with quartersawn timber. A small orange identification sticker is located on the upper left corner of the top section. No maker labels or marks are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Condition report:
The item displays significant surface dust and grime throughout. There are visible scratches, scuffs, and abrasions to the wood finish, especially along the edges and corners. Finish wear and minor losses are evident, most notably on the left side of the second section from the top. The glass panels appear to be intact but are heavily soiled. One small knob is present on the right side of the second section door frame; other original hardware appears to be missing or is not visible.
