Lot 558: Three Early 20th Century Mazowia Bentwood Bistro Chairs
A trio of early 20th-century bentwood bistro chairs by Mazowia of Noworadomsk, comprising one armchair and two side chairs. The set is constructed from steam-bent beech with a dark stained finish, following the classic Thonet design. The armchair features a circular seat frame with a padded insert upholstered in tan-coloured vinyl. The two side chairs are distinguished by decorative pressed-wood patterns on the seats; one depicts a central floral motif with scrolling foliage, and the other features a fanned shell-like design. The construction includes characteristic curved back supports and splayed legs. Temporary orange inventory stickers are present on the legs of two chairs.
Condition report:
The chairs are in used, unrestored condition. There is widespread surface wear, including scuffing and loss of the stained finish, particularly on the legs and seat rims. The pressed-wood patterns on the side chairs show varying degrees of wear but remain clearly visible. The vinyl upholstery on the armchair is intact with minor surface soiling and marks. The items are currently dusty and require cleaning.
