Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of approximately fourteen vintage and modern hardcover books primarily focused on British royal biographies and Great War military history. The royal biographies include titles published by Book Club Associates, featuring Victoria by Dorothy Marshall, and Edward VII and George VI, both by Keith Middlemas. A red cloth-bound volume titled The War in the Trenches by Alan Lloyd from The British at War series is also included.

The military history component contains several volumes of The War Illustrated, published by Amalgamated Press Limited, London. Identified volumes from this series include Volume 1 in dark maroon cloth, Volume 3 featuring a silver-stamped crest with crossed swords, and Volume VIII, titled Album De Luxe: Ending the First Three Years, Pages 2521-2856. Other military publications include The Anzac Book, Volume VII of History of the Great War with gilt-stamped star motifs, and a volume titled War Album. The books are housed in a cardboard storage box which bears an orange lot sticker with the handwritten digits 523.

Condition report:

The collection is in varied condition, showing typical signs of age and wear. Significant sun-fading and loss of legibility are evident on the spines of The Anzac Book and the War Album. Bindings across the collection display edge wear, bumping to corners, and fraying at the head and foot of the spines. Surface dust and soiling are visible on the top edges of the horizontally stacked volumes. No dust jackets are present for the early 20th-century publications. Internal page toning and foxing consistent with the age of the paper should be expected.
