An Art Deco style fireplace front and matching fret constructed from heavy cast brass. The assembly features two substantial upright andirons decorated with repeating geometric chevron patterns, supporting a curved front composed of ten vertical bars. The piece includes a separate upper fret rail designed with a pierced gallery and a central ornamental ring handle. The construction is solid cast metal throughout. Three inventory stickers are attached: a white label marked 14, and orange labels marked 476 and 349. No manufacturer marks or hallmarks are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Standard domestic size for a coal or wood-burning fireplace.
Condition report:
The item is in a well-used and unpolished condition. Significant green verdigris oxidation and patina are visible across the top rail, between the front bars, and on the lower sections of the uprights. There is a general accumulation of surface dirt and soot residue consistent with use. Structurally, the cast components appear intact and free from cracks or major breaks.
