Lot 422: An Assortment of Vintage Ceramic Tea Ware and Decorative Objects including Duchess Bone China
An assortment of 20th-century decorative ceramics and small items, primarily bone china and earthenware tea ware. The collection features several patterns, notably Duchess Bone China pieces decorated with transfer-printed sprays of large pink, yellow, and red roses with green foliage and gilt-edged rims. Also present is a set of teacups and a cream jug featuring a delicate botanical pattern of pink and purple wildflowers on green stems. A partial set of teacups displays a repeating stylised scrolled motif in a deep maroon tone. One white teacup features internal gilt script reading Hand Painted.
Decorative objects include a pair of white ceramic candlesticks, one with transfer-printed floral details; a green-glazed ceramic posy vase with a heavily frilled rim; a dark-toned figure of an elephant; a small brown-glazed animal figurine; and a dark green-glazed lobed ceramic dish with a leaf-moulded design.
Condition report:
The items exhibit signs of age and use. A prominent chip is visible on the upper rim of the green frilled posy vase. Gilt rubbing is present on the rims and handles of several teacups. Surface scratching and minor chips are likely to be present on the stacked plates and saucers due to the current storage method.
