Lot 416: A Pair of Brigantia Needlework Hand-Worked Tapestry Cushions
A pair of square cushions featuring hand-worked wool needlepoint fronts made from Brigantia Needlework tapestry kits. The first cushion displays the Castelon pattern, which consists of a repeating geometric diamond lattice design with small stylized floral motifs in red, orange, and green on a cream ground. The second cushion displays the Fleur pattern, featuring an organic trailing floral and foliate design in a palette of red, green, and brown on a cream ground. Both cushions are finished with light green corded piping at the edges and a matching green fabric to the reverse. Small temporary paper inventory labels are attached to the needlepoint fronts.
Condition report:
The cushions are in good overall condition with general signs of age and use. The wool needlepoint fronts show minor surface fuzzing but no significant losses or holes. The inner pads have become somewhat flattened. The light green corded piping exhibits light wear and minor fraying, particularly at the corners.
