Lot 401: Mid-20th Century Priscilla Hardwood Sewing Cabinet
A mid-century wooden sewing cabinet of the Priscilla type, featuring a semi-circular drum-style body with a flat top. The twin rectangular lids are hinged and open outwards to reveal a partitioned interior. One side contains a deep, open well following the curve of the body, while the other houses a removable wooden tray divided into four compartments for organising sewing notions or small tools. The cabinet is constructed from a stained hardwood with a finish intended to mimic mahogany. The body is supported by four square-section legs joined by a low H-frame stretcher for stability. Two small adhesive labels are present on the top surface, including a white inventory sticker marked 17 17.
Condition report:
The item is in used condition with visible signs of wear consistent with age and utility. The top surface shows several light scratches, scuffs, and a circular watermark to the left-hand lid. There is minor fading to the finish across the top and sides. The hinges appear functional, the structure is sound, and the interior tray remains intact.
