A collection of artworks and ephemera housed in cardboard boxes. The principal item is a colour illustration by Richard Doyle titled ‘Poor Little Birdie Teased, and Courtship Cut Short’, from the series ‘In Fairyland: A Series of Pictures from the Elf-World’. The image depicts a fairy with yellow wings and a green hat seated on a large mushroom, observing a blue tit perched on a grass stem. This work is presented in a white card mount and features an indistinct monogram in the lower-left corner. Also included is a large monochrome work, possibly a charcoal drawing or print, depicting a landscape with a wooden signpost hand-lettered ‘SANDEFJORD’. This piece is mounted on a dark brown board and protected by a plastic sleeve. The lot further contains an assortment of other framed pictures and folders of ephemera.
Condition report:
The items show general age-related wear. The white mount of the Richard Doyle illustration has some surface marks and dust. The monochrome landscape piece shows some wear to the corners of the backing board. The cardboard storage containers exhibit significant wear and handling marks. The overall condition of the artworks is fair to good.
