Lot 308: William Darden, An Assortment of Framed Graphite Drawings
An assortment of framed graphite drawings on toned wove paper by William Darden. The collection comprises several observational studies of rural architecture and landscapes, focusing on stone-built barns and farmstead outbuildings situated within wooded environments. One work is signed in block capitals William Darden in the lower right corner, and another is signed in cursive William Darden in the lower right corner. The drawings are mounted within deep olive-brown card and set into dark stained wooden frames with gilt inner slips. A partial view of a watercolour is also visible within the grouped lot.
Condition report:
The glass on the central smaller frame is cracked diagonally. The wooden frames show general wear throughout, including nicks, scuffing, and loss of finish to the edges and corners. The paper supports display overall toning consistent with age and some scattered foxing spots.
