Lot 290: A Pair of Vintage Composition Figures including an RCMP Mountie and a Caricature Gentleman
A pair of vintage composition figures. The first figure depicts a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer with a composition head and limbs. It features painted facial details including eyes closed in a sleeping position and red lips. The figure is dressed in an original red felt tunic with gold-tone cord trim, a black belt, and blue fabric trousers with yellow side stripes. Accessories include a wide-brimmed brown felt hat and a white cord lanyard. The second figure is a fully moulded and painted composition caricature of a gentleman in formal attire, featuring a black tailcoat, white waistcoat, and black trousers. The head is painted with greyish-white hair and black dot eyes. The figures are contained within a green-edged cardboard box which includes two brass-tone metal rings and a small white label printed with the characters 2 2.

Condition report:
The RCMP figure exhibits general surface wear, accumulated dust, and a misshapen felt hat. The formal gentleman figure shows significant condition issues, with large areas of paint loss and chipping on the right hand and both feet, exposing the composition material underneath. There are also smaller scattered paint chips on the coat and trousers. The cardboard box shows edge wear and internal staining.
