Lot 275: A Large Collection of Vinyl LP Records and 78rpm Singles
A large collection of vinyl records housed in two cardboard boxes, comprising 12-inch LPs and a smaller selection of 7-inch and 10-inch records, including 78rpm shellac discs. The collection primarily dates from the 1950s through to the 1970s, with a focus on religious hymns, choral music, and mid-century British easy listening and vocal pop. Legible titles include The Old Rugged Cross and The Wondrous Story by the Portsmouth Citadel Songsters. Visible record labels include RCA Camden, Pye Golden Guinea, Warwick, Bulldog Records, and International. One identified 78rpm disc on the Columbia label features the track I’ve Lost My Love by Donald Peers. The collection consists of approximately 80 to 100 items in total.
Condition report:
The outer sleeves and jackets show significant signs of age and wear, including edge fraying, seam splits, corner bumping, creasing, and surface soiling. Several of the smaller format records and 78s are loose or housed in heavily worn and torn paper inner sleeves. The discs have not been individually inspected for playability; however, visible surface scratches, dust accumulation, and handling marks are present. The fragile 78rpm shellac records show evidence of surface scuffing. Overall, sleeves are in Poor to Good condition; media is Fair to Very Good (untested).
