Lot 264: An Assortment of Vintage Ebonite and Glass Desk Accessories Including a Mabie Todd Swan Pen Case
An assortment of early 20th-century writing and desk equipment. The collection includes a large black ebonite cylindrical case featuring silver-toned flourishing script reading The Swan Pen, produced by Mabie, Todd and Co. Ltd. Two inkwells are present, both with clear glass bases; one is fitted with a domed black ebonite lid with a central knob, while the other features a dark brown lid with a concentric grain pattern and a central aperture for a pen. The lot further contains a black ebonite doughnut-shaped pen stand or paperweight, several black ebonite dip pen handles or styluses, and various ebonite lids and shallow circular components. Two metal binder clips are also included. A small white adhesive label with the handwritten number 7 is affixed to the wooden-style inkwell lid.
Condition report:
The items are in used vintage condition. Visible surface dust and light scratching are present across the ebonite components. The silver-toned lettering on the pen case shows some rubbing but remains legible. The glass bases appear to be without major chips or cracks. The metal binder clips show signs of oxidation.
