Lot 241: Large Antique Bentwood Banded Steamer Trunk
A large antique steamer trunk with a brown textured vulcanised fibre exterior, reinforced with three vertical bentwood bands and riveted construction. The trunk is secured with a central brass-toned locking latch and two outer flip-down clips. The front face bears several fragmented and faded paper travel labels, including one with a decorative geometric border. An orange auction lot sticker numbered 241 is affixed to the lid. Metal hardware on the central latch shows evidence of marks, but they are too worn and oxidised to be transcribed.
Condition report:
The item is in a heavily used condition, exhibiting significant surface rust and oxidisation to the metal hardware. There are general scuffs and staining across the exterior, with substantial material loss and fraying at the bottom corners and along the lower edges.
