Lot 236: Mediterranean School Oil on Canvas Coastal Village Scene
A mid-20th century oil on canvas depicting a Mediterranean coastal village scene. The composition features white-washed buildings with terracotta and yellow tiled roofs, with window boxes overflowing with colourful flowers. A small wooden boat is situated on the sandy beach in the foreground, while the background shows two sailboats on a calm blue sea. The artist has employed a decorative style with significant use of a palette knife, creating thick impasto textures on the building facades and floral elements. The work is unsigned and is housed in a dark-stained wood frame with a thin gilt inner slip. An orange sticker with the numbers 236 and a white sticker with the numbers 14 are adhered to the right side of the frame.

The painting is in good overall condition with minor surface dust. The wooden frame shows light peripheral wear and small scuffs consistent with age.
