Lot 220: A Peter Heap Rabbitman Oak Two Tier Trolley
A Peter Heap Rabbitman oak two tier trolley. This Arts and Crafts style piece is crafted from solid English oak, featuring an adzed finish to the surfaces. It consists of two rectangular trays with raised, galleried edges, supported by four square-section uprights. A signature hand-carved rabbit in high relief is positioned on the top of one corner post. The unit is mounted on four metal swivel castors. Peter Heap, known as Rabbitman, was a member of the Yorkshire Critters group of craftsmen, having trained at the Robert Thompson workshop in Kilburn before establishing his own workshop in Wetwang, East Yorkshire.
Condition report:
The trolley shows visible signs of age and functional use consistent with its purpose. Surface scratches, minor ring marks, and areas of finish wear are present on both tray surfaces. The frame remains structurally sound with no major chips or structural damage. The hand-carved rabbit signature is in good condition. The castors remain functional.
