Lot 17: A Collection of Four Copper and Brass Metalware Items
A collection of four metalware items including both utility and decorative pieces. The group features a large circular copper cauldron or hearth bucket with hand-hammered construction, fitted with a wrought iron swing handle secured by heavy-gauge copper rivets. A smaller brass utility bucket of circular form is present, featuring a black-painted iron swing handle.
The lot further contains a decorative baluster-form vase of archaic design, decorated with cast relief bands of stylized zoomorphic scrollwork and geometric Greek key borders. The collection is completed by a single cast brass figural candlestick, featuring a square plinth base and an ornate stem modelled as a mythical grotesque creature which supports a tulip-form nozzle.

Condition report:
The items show wear and patina consistent with age and use. The large copper cauldron exhibits heavy exterior oxidation and significant interior verdigris and mineral deposits. The brass bucket displays surface tarnish, scratches, and areas of paint loss to the handle. The archaic-style vase has a heavy mottled green and brown patina and oxidation to the interior. The figural candlestick shows surface tarnish and residual green wax in the nozzle and around the base of the stem.
