A figural mantel clock manufactured by Crosa for the Juliana brand. The piece is constructed from cast resin with a green-bronze patinated finish, commonly referred to as cold cast bronze. The sculptural design features a seated female figure in classical draped robes reading a book at the base of the central clock pillar. The clock housing is decorated with a relief medallion of a face and is flanked by a ram’s head. The entire composition is surmounted by a winged putto or cherub playing a horn. The circular dial has a brushed gold-tone finish with black Roman numeral hour markers and black hour, minute, and second hands. The dial is printed with the brand name Juliana and the word QUARTZ. The clock is powered by a battery-operated electronic quartz movement.
Condition report:
The clock displays signs of light wear and handling. There is visible dust accumulation within the crevices and details of the casting. Several auction-related adhesive labels are present: an orange tag on the dial face and two white tags on the base. Minor rubbing to the patinated finish is evident on the protruding corners and edges of the base, revealing a darker substrate beneath. The quartz movement is untested and requires a battery.
