Lot 131: An Extensive Royal Doulton Caprice Pattern Fine China Part Dinner and Tea Service
An extensive part dinner and tea service produced by Royal Doulton in the Caprice pattern, first introduced in 1988. The service is crafted from fine china and features a white ground decorated with delicate transfer-printed sprays of small pink flowers and green foliage, finished with a single green line to the rims. The collection comprises a wide variety of pieces, including multiple dinner plates, salad or dessert plates, side plates, rimmed soup bowls, and nesting cereal or fruit bowls of various sizes. The tea and coffee ware includes numerous teacups with matching saucers, taller mugs, and two cream jugs. Included serving items consist of an oval open vegetable dish, a rectangular lidded butter dish, and a pair of salt and pepper shakers. The bases bear the Royal Doulton lion and crown backstamp, which includes the pattern name Caprice and the copyright date of 1988.
Condition report:
The service appears to be in overall good used condition. No major chips, cracks, or signs of restoration were observed on the primary pieces. Light surface scratches and minor signs of wear consistent with use and storage in boxes should be expected. One cream jug is currently being used to store stationery items and may require cleaning.
