Lot 115: A Mid-20th Century 24-Piece Cased Silver-Plated and Stainless Steel Cutlery Set by Various Sheffield Makers
A part-canteen of cutlery for a six-place setting, comprising six dinner knives, six forks, six dessert spoons, and six soup spoons. The knife blades are constructed from stainless steel and are fitted with cream-coloured synthetic handles. The blades bear various maker’s marks including Pearson & Sons Ltd, Sheffield, and Musgraves & Co, Sheffield. The forks and spoons are of silver-plated construction. The set is presented in a red textured rexine case with a brown velvet-lined fitted interior.
Condition report:
The red rexine case shows minor scuffing and wear to the exterior edges and corners. The interior lining remains intact with some light compression marks from the cutlery. The metal components exhibit general light surface scratching and minor tarnish consistent with age and use. The cream handles appear in good condition without significant staining or cracking. The knife blades show varying maker\'s marks, indicating a composite set or replacements.
