Lot 106: A Collection of Decorative Wooden and Lacquerware Boxes
This lot features a group of decorative containers, including components of a wooden cantilever sewing box and various black lacquer items. The wooden sections are square with brass-inlaid diamond medallions containing stylized floral motifs. The lacquerware consists of a spherical box and a rectangular box, both hand-painted with blue floral designs and butterflies in a folk-art style. A third, larger rectangular box positioned beneath the others is decorated with Chinoiserie-style figurative scenes in gold and polychrome. The materials used include wood, lacquer, and brass. No artist signatures or manufacturer marks are visible on the surfaces.
Condition report:
The items exhibit typical signs of age and handling. Surface scratches and minor abrasions are visible on the lacquer finishes, particularly on the rounded surfaces of the spherical box. The wooden and brass elements show light wear and oxidation consistent with age.
