A Chinese folding table screen consisting of three panels joined by brass-toned metal hinges. Each panel features a hand-painted composition in ink and light pigments on an opaque white ground, depicting traditional botanical motifs known as the Four Gentlemen, specifically flowering plum blossom, orchids, and bamboo. The panels are housed within dark hardwood frames, possibly rosewood, which are decorated with pierced openwork scrolling to the top rails. The reverse side of the panels is plain. No signatures, seals, or reign marks are visible on any of the panels or the frame.
Condition report:
The screen is in good overall condition with minor surface wear and light scuffing to the wooden frames commensurate with age. There is a small orange adhesive price label attached to the lower portion of one frame. The hinges are functional and intact.
