Buyer's Premium:

An assortment of commemorative tokens and medals produced to celebrate major British royal milestones. The collection primarily focuses on the 1897 Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria and the 1902 Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. The items are struck in various materials including white metal, gilt metal, and bronze-toned alloys. Featured items include a St John Ambulance Association circular badge with a central Maltese cross, an eight-pointed gilt metal star badge inscribed Diamond Jubilee 1837 1897, and a large white metal medal issued by the Ulverston District Council. Several pieces feature the jugate busts of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra with the inscription Crowned June 26 1902. Others depict the profile of Queen Victoria with titles such as Victoria Regina et Imperatrix and Victoria Queen and Empress. One medal is attached to a bronze-toned crown-shaped pin. Several items retain their original silk suspension ribbons in blue and yellow, red, white, and blue, and a combination of blue, yellow, and red.


Condition report:

The collection is in varied condition. The white metal medals show surface oxidation and a loss of original lustre consistent with age. Ribbons show typical signs of wear, including fraying and minor discoloration. One medal is missing its suspension loop.
