A United Kingdom 1953 Coronation commemorative crown with a face value of five shillings, struck in cupro-nickel. The obverse features the equestrian portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA BRITT OMN REGINA FIDEI DEFENSOR and the denomination FIVE SHILLINGS. This issue was struck to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is housed in a square plastic protective holder and is accompanied by its original red textured presentation box. The interior lid features a printed paper label stating: A presentation to the staff of Glaxo Laboratories Ltd. 2nd June, 1953.
Condition report:
The coin exhibits surface toning and light wear. The presentation box shows moderate shelf wear to the exterior and edges, and the internal label displays minor foxing.
