Lot 487: A Pair of Stained Hardwood Spindle-Back Side Chairs
A pair of stained hardwood spindle-back side chairs in a traditional farmhouse style, dating from the mid-to-late 20th century. Each chair is constructed with a gently arched top rail over five shaped, flat-faced spindles. The chairs feature contoured saddle seats and are supported by four turned legs. The timber is finished in a dark walnut-coloured stain with a high-gloss polish. Temporary yellow auction house labels are present on the top rail of each chair, printed with the lot numbers 481 and 20. No permanent maker marks or stamps are visible.
Condition report:
The chairs are in good structural condition. The finish shows signs of wear consistent with age and use, including visible scuffs, nicks, and abrasions, particularly concentrated around the edges of the seats and the lower portions of the legs.
