A 20th-century oak bench or low side table of simple, utilitarian design, executed in the Mission or Arts and Crafts style. The rectangular top is constructed from solid oak boards and sits above a plain frieze. The piece is supported by four tapered legs of square section, which are joined by H-pattern stretchers for stability. The wood features a medium oak finish that highlights the natural grain. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible; however, the form and construction are characteristic of pieces produced by manufacturers such as Stickley Brothers.
Condition report:
The piece is in good structural condition. There is surface wear across the top and legs, including light scratches, minor scuffs, and small indentations consistent with age and regular use. Two adhesive stickers remain on the top surface.
