A large fireside log or coal scuttle constructed from heavy-gauge sheet brass with a rolled rim. The cylindrical body features a prominent, high-relief embossed heraldic crest to the front. The armorial design includes elements such as a rampant lion, fleur-de-lis, and a chequered shield, surmounted by a helmet or crown. This piece is designed in the Dutch style, which was a popular aesthetic for hearth accessories in the United Kingdom during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. No maker’s marks or hallmarks were identified during inspection. An orange sticker with the handwritten digits 295 is adhered to the rim.

The item displays a significant aged patina with surface darkening and varied oxidation throughout. There are visible areas of green verdigris, particularly concentrated within the recessed details of the embossed heraldic crest and along the rolled rim. The interior is heavily darkened and exhibits signs of use. General surface scuffs, small dings, and minor pitting are present, consistent with the object\'s age and function.
