JUNE AUCTION

Lot 289: An Assortment of Decorative Wrought Iron and Brass Architectural Hardware

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This collection comprises a variety of architectural and decorative metal hardware, primarily of wrought iron and brass construction. The iron components include a large off-white or cream-painted scroll bracket, characteristic of a curtain tie-back, alongside a black-finished bracket featuring a twisted stem and spherical ball finial. Other iron items include a heavy curved black arm and several smaller hooks and fittings, some of which remain in original plastic packaging, including a group of matching cream-painted rings. The brassware consists of two circular, stepped backplates with a polished finish, likely intended for wall-mounted lighting or door furniture. The items exhibit a traditional decorative style consistent with late Victorian and Edwardian revival architectural salvage. An orange adhesive label with the handwritten number 289 is present on the storage box.

Condition report:

The items are in used, salvaged condition. The wrought iron pieces show varying degrees of age-related wear, with notable surface oxidation and rust present on the black-finished components, particularly the ball-finial piece. The cream-painted items display minor chipping and surface texture wear. The brass backplates exhibit light surface scratches and tarnishing consistent with age and storage. The lot is a mixed assembly of parts, and completeness of specific sets cannot be guaranteed.
