Lot 257: A Weathered Stone Baluster Form Garden Pedestal
A traditional garden pedestal or baluster, likely intended as a support for a sundial, birdbath, or decorative urn. The piece is constructed from a light-coloured stone, possibly sandstone or a high-quality reconstituted stone. The design features a square capital transitioning into a turned, baluster-shaped shaft with a circular base. The surface displays extensive natural weathering, including lichen and moss growth. A length of white twine is tied around the neck of the shaft. An orange adhesive inventory label is adhered to the side of the capital. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
