Lot 19: A Set of Eight Porcelain Plates with Floral Decoration and Gilded Rims
A set of eight porcelain plates, likely bone china, featuring an ornate floral and foliate design. Each plate has a central white well surrounded by a green foliate scroll inner border. The rim is decorated with polychrome floral sprigs, including roses and yellow blossoms, set against green foliage. This is bordered by a dark navy blue or black band with a gilded geometric trellis pattern. The decoration appears to be transfer-printed with hand-applied enamel colours and gilding. The plates are circular with scalloped edges. No maker’s marks or backstamps are visible.
Condition report:
The plates exhibit signs of age and use. There is noticeable rubbing and wear to the gilding on the scalloped rims. A small dark mark or firing flaw is present in the central well of the uppermost plate. Two adhesive auction labels are present.
