Lot 186a: Vintage Chad Valley Bagatelle Game
A vintage tabletop bagatelle game manufactured by Chad Valley, Harborne, England. The game board is constructed from wood and finished in forest green paint, featuring numerous metal pins arranged to form various target circles and deflection patterns. Scoring zones are identified by yellow oval markers with black numerals ranging from 5 to 150. A yellow circular label near the base reads All Dead Balls Back. The right-hand side of the board incorporates a wooden scoring track with numeric values from 5 to 1000 and a wooden and metal spring-loaded plunger mechanism for launching balls. The game is accompanied by a small plastic bag containing several stone or marble balls. An oval gold-coloured manufacturer’s label is situated to the centre-left of the board, printed with the text Made By Chad Valley Harborne England. A small white rectangular sticker with the number 186A is attached to the lower right edge.
Condition report:
The item is in used vintage condition. There is visible scuffing and wear to the green painted surface, particularly around the edges and within the ball launch channel. The metal pins exhibit surface oxidation and tarnish consistent with age. The plunger mechanism is present but its functional working order is untested. No original packaging or box is included.
