Buyer's Premium:

A collection of early 20th-century postcards featuring topographical, maritime, comic, and social history subjects. The cards are housed in a dark blue ring-binder album within protective plastic sleeves. Notable cards include a colour postcard of the ocean liner R.M.S. Mauretania with printed technical specifications stating 32,000 Gross Tons and 68,000 Horse Power. Topographical views include a black and white scene titled SOUVENIR FROM DURBAN, NATAL, AFRICA featuring a rickshaw scene, and a landscape view titled RIVER RIBBLE AND EDISFORD BRIDGE, CLITHEROE. A multi-view card of the English Lake District titled TWELVE LAKES is marked B. and R.s Camera Series. International social history is represented by a black and white card titled Dentellières flamandes. – LACE MAKERS, depicting women at work. The assortment also includes a colour comic postcard of a schoolroom scene with the caption SO, HENRY YOU CANNOT LEAVE THE ROOM TILL YOU HAVE STAYED LIKE A GOOD BOY AND FILLED THE INKWELLS! and various artistic portrait and greeting cards.


Condition report:

The cards appear to be in generally good condition, held within protective plastic sleeves. Visible foxing and light tanning are present on the edges of several cards and the album dividers. The dark blue binder shows light shelf wear and bears yellow adhesive lot stickers on the spine and edges.
