This collection comprises an assortment of decorative ceramic plates in various styles. Included are two large circular plates decorated in the Millefleurs style, featuring a dense pattern of multi-coloured flowers such as peonies and chrysanthemums against a gold ground, resembling the Chinese 1000 flowers pattern. The collection also features a stack of plates with a polychrome transfer-printed rural scene, depicting a figure with a horse and cart near a cottage and water, in the style of John Constable’s The Hay Wain. A further stack consists of red floral transferware plates with a scalloped edge and central floral motif. A single small porcelain side plate with a central polychrome floral spray is also included. The plates appear to be a mixture of porcelain and earthenware. Orange inventory stickers with the numbers 101 and 20 are adhered to some pieces.
Condition report:
Generally good condition with minor surface wear and light scratching consistent with use. There is some visible rubbing to the gilt rims on the Millefleurs style plates. The underlying plates in the stacks and the bases of all items have not been examined. No major chips or cracks are visible on the upper surfaces.
