Lot 659: Large Italianate Style Marquetry Inlaid Walnut Veneer Display Cabinet Upper Section
A large, wide horizontal upper section of a display cabinet or wall unit, designed in the Italianate style. The central section comprises two large doors, each containing six glass panes divided by wooden glazing bars. To one side of the glazed area is a vertical arrangement of two solid cupboard doors, each decorated with diagonal grain walnut veneers and a central marquetry panel featuring a floral motif. The opposite end of the unit is finished with a large, shaped decorative end panel featuring elaborate scrolling foliate and floral marquetry inlays in lighter contrasting woods. The entire piece is finished in a medium-toned walnut veneer and is equipped with decorative brass-tone metal handles and hinges. Internal wooden shelving is visible through the central glazed doors. Small white inventory tags are present on the glass and frame. The cabinet is currently pictured resting on a separate, unrelated white-painted piece of furniture.
Condition report:
The cabinet appears to be in good overall condition. There are several strips of adhesive tape present on the frame and doors, likely used to secure them during transit. Minor surface marks and light scratches consistent with age and previous use are visible. No significant structural damage or missing components were noted.
