Lot 584: A Vintage British Style Roadster Bicycle with Rod Brakes and Accessories
This vintage roadster style bicycle is constructed with a black lugged steel diamond frame, characteristic of mid-20th century British utility cycles. The bicycle features a rod-actuated braking system and swept-back handlebars. It is equipped with steel wheel rims, metal mudguards, and rubber block pedals. Accessories include a white vintage tyre pump mounted to the down tube and a weathered leather or heavy canvas saddlebag attached to the rear of the seat. The drivetrain and mechanical components are of steel construction. While the design is consistent with manufacturers such as Hercules, Dunelt, or Brown Bros, no maker marks or transfers are clearly legible on the frame or head tube.
Condition report:
The bicycle is in poor, as-found condition and is offered as a restoration project. There is extensive surface oxidation and corrosion across the frame, handlebars, wheel rims, and drivetrain. The rear mudguard is damaged and partially detached. The saddlebag and saddle show significant weathering, cracking, and wear. The mechanical integrity and functionality of the braking and drive systems have not been tested.
