A lot of two vintage fireplace accessories of mid-to-late 20th-century British manufacture. The first piece is a rectangular decorative fire screen constructed from metal with a white-painted finish. The screen contains a perforated panel with a lattice-work pattern and an applied cast metal medallion to the centre featuring a floral design in red and gold tones. The frame is finished with two brass-toned spherical finials and stands on splayed, scroll-style feet. The second piece is a fire spark guard of rectangular, faceted form, consisting of fine black-painted wire mesh within a brass-toned metal frame. It features a central circular ring pull handle. Both items are marked with orange adhesive stickers bearing the lot number S63. No maker’s marks are visible.
Condition report:
The fire screen displays minor surface wear to the white paint and tarnish to the brass-toned elements. The spark guard shows signs of use including some wear to the black mesh coating and discolouration to the brass-toned frame.
