Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

This framed colour print on paper depicts the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) 4-6-2 ‘Princess Royal’ class locomotive No. 6200. The illustration shows the engine and tender in profile, with the nameplate ‘THE PRINCESS ROYAL’ visible above the driving wheels. The tender bears the letters ‘LMS’ in gold, and the cab side is marked with the number ‘6200’. The work is executed in a realistic, illustrative style characteristic of technical railway art produced for the Locomotive Publishing Co. The piece is signed ‘F. Moore’ in the upper right corner, a collective pseudonym used by artists such as Thomas Rudd for the company. The print is housed in a dark-stained wooden frame under glass.

Condition report:

The paper support shows significant age-related discoloration and yellowing. Extensive foxing is visible throughout the image, most notably in the upper sky area and the lower foreground. The frame exhibits minor surface wear and edge scuffs. A small orange adhesive sticker is present on the upper right exterior of the glass. The hanging cord is visible on the left-hand side.
