Attributed to Mason’s, this collection of English ironstone tablewares is decorated in the Mandalay pattern. The items feature a traditional Imari palette comprising underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron-red with pink floral accents and gilt highlights to the rims and handles. The decoration is achieved through transfer-printed outlines with hand-painted colour infill. The collection includes a large lidded twin-handled soup tureen with a notched lid, octagonal-bodied jugs of varying sizes with scrolling handles, a lidded vegetable dish of lobed rectangular form, a shallow pedestal bowl, a small shaped dish with a scalloped edge, and a handled serving plate from a tiered stand. No manufacturer marks are visible on the surfaces shown in the images.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in good overall condition. There is visible rubbing and wear to the gilt highlights, particularly on the handles and rims. Adhesive auction house lot stickers are present on the surfaces of several pieces. No significant chips, cracks, or repairs are apparent from the primary visual inspection, although minor surface wear and kiln-firing anomalies typical of ironstone may be present.
